In Journals of Hate, by Roberto Jacoby and Syd Krochmalny, the stage is built from two heterogeneous planes in tension.
On one side, the moving mass of bodies embodies collective phenomena of public space: marches, picket lines, looting, stampedes, lynchings, police repression, military formations, exoduses, rituals. It is the physical and ever-changing materiality of the crowd.
On the other, the hate-filled statements of anonymous readers of the digital editions of La Nación and Clarín—collected during the Kirchner governments and turned into poems—are transformed into evangelical pop songs.
Between these two planes, frictions and alliances generate a territory of affects: the hatred and joy coursing through the bodies, and the power strategy that shepherds the masses when their contingent overflows threaten to become equality, organization, and emancipation.
